Fitbit 2016 Review
Fitbit Charge HR 2016 Review
The Fitbit Charge HR Wireless is one of the most popular fitness-tracking devices on the market right now. Here is a breakdown of what it has to offer, where it excels, and where is falls short.
What are the principal functions of Fitbit Charge HR?
This device is an activity tracker, sleep tracker, and an all-day heart-rate monitor. The overall purpose of this Fitbit is to catalog your activity for the day and to keep you motivated and inspired for fitness. The idea is for you to watch yourself improve upon your fitness through this device’s tracking which will ultimately motivate you to stay active and healthy.
Design.
The Fitbit Charge HR is a simple looking device. This is one of the areas that this fitness tracker excels. It has a sleek design and is light-weight. It is also offered in 4 different colors (Fitbit Charge HR on Amazon): black, blue, plum, and tangerine. We suggest black (you can’t go wrong with black).
The band itself is a rugged composite and its light-weight design will have you forgetting that you’re wearing it. The LED display is simple and intuitive (if you double-tap the face of the display it even illuminates it – nice function).
The Fitbit App.
The Fitbit Charge HR band uses Bluetooth to automatically sync data to the Fitbit mobile app. The Fitbit app is an area where this device excels. The app is easy to use and has the functionality to track:
- steps
- heat-rate
- calories burned
- floors climbed
- distance traveled
- active minutes
- sleep
In addition to tracking these numbers daily, the numbers are archived so you can see how your numbers change and progress over time. This is a great way to stay focused and motivated. This app is one of the best fitness apps currently on the market and works with your IOS, Android, or Windows phone.
One of the biggest positives of this app is that you can adjust all of the Fitbit Charge settings from the mobile app: silent alarms, which wrist you’re wearing the device on, main goal, notifications etc.
Battery Life
If you are running this device 24 hours a day, you can expect about 4 to 5 days on a charge… which is good but not great. It’s easy to charge it on the 5th day however (just let if charge back up fully while sleeping). The Charge HR has its own cable; which means you need to have it handy as you can’t use a micro-sb charger or any other universal-type charger to power it back up.
Conclusion
The Fitbit Charge HR has a simple, intuitive design that is easy to wear and use. It does a nice job tracking all of the important aspects of your daily activity. One of its strongest points is how it wireless syncs all of the gathered data to your mobile app.. and the app itself has a nice design and is easy to use.
The only drawback we could find is that it does not use any type of universal charger and it is not fully submersible in water (it is resistant to sweat and rain however).
Ultimately, the device does precisely what it is intended to do: track your activity, track you fitness progress, and keep you motivated.
