A Bigger Chest:  3 Best Exercises 

For those who are merely concerned with muscular endurance and an overall strong physique, the appearance of a “bigger chest” isn’t a concern.  Most guys, however, want a “strong and/or ripped” aesthetic when they take their shirt off.  Having a strong, well defined chest is part of an overall classically male physique.  Here are the top 3 exercises that will help your chest grow in size and look fuller in appearance:

1.  Barbell Bench Press

Barbell bench press is a staple of any well-designed chest workout.  Start by laying flat on a bench underneath a weighted barbell.  Grip the barbell slightly wider than shoulder-width-apart.  Push the barbell up and then lower the barbell down to your chest.  The bar should come down at about your nipple line.  Next, push the barbell straight up and full extend your elbows – this is one rep.
When first beginning this exercise, begin, as always, with light weight to assess out how much you can safely lift.  Start with 3 sets of 8 reps.  Slowly increase the weight and reps over time.

2.  Incline Dumbbell Press

Incline dumbbell press is a great way to target your upper-chest muscles as well as your shoulders.  Start by holding dumbbells to your to side by flaring your elbows out on a inclined bench (shown above).  Push the dumbbells straight up and fully extend your elbows overhead.
Again, start with light-weight dumbbells to begin with and work your way to heavier weights over time.  As we did on the bench, start with 3 sets of 8 reps and add reps and weight as your strength improves.

3. Push-Ups

Push-ups are often forgotten when chest routines are planned.  They are, however, a great way to fatigue your chest muscles and gain overall strength and size.  The nice thing about push-ups is that you do not need to worry about any weights.  When you add push-ups to your routine, set this goal:  do 100 push-ups as fast as you can with as little rest as possible.  This will be difficult at first but your time and speed with greatly increase over time if you stay dedicated.  If  doing 100 push-ups becomes easy for you, great!.. Simply up the number in increments of 10 to further increase your chest gains!
